Trading Trust
A Trust that Trades like a business, has trading income and expenses, rents out property or actively trades and receives interest, dividends and yearly capital gains. These type of trusts are seen by SARS as Corporations and thus have to have a full set of accounts as well as Financial Statements. If you have a Trading Trust click the button below.
Asset Protecting Trust
Most Trusts that do not trade fall into this category. The creators of these trusts donate assets into the trust to ensure management of said assets is controlled independently by the Trustees. The Trust does not Trade like a normal business and although they may have income in the form of Interest and dividends, the reporting process is a lot more simple than that of a trading trust.
